This was part of a line of superhero stretch figures. The also had Superman, Batman, and Plastic Man (his cartoon show was on ABC at this time, and this was the only merchandise I can recall). Plastic Man was the only one that made any sense. I remember a Christmas catalog that showed Elastic Superman fighting Mattel's Godzilla figure.
