That 'poster-quality' art really beats the pants off of cut-n-paste photo ads. As reflected in your post, right around '85, illustrations for TV Guide ads went the way of the Conestoga wagon. The illustrations really sold it to me, got my elementary school-age self all cranked up for 'V: The Final Battle.'
