Cult-TV Theme Watch: Tuxedoes

A tuxedo is a suit of a formal nature, and every cult-television character looks better in one.

In keeping up with James Bond, 007, the agents of Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964-1968) --Napoleon Solo (Robert Vaughn) and Ilya Kuriyakin (David McCallum) often wear tuxedoes, in various episodes.

In The X-Files (1993 – 2002), Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) don formal attire for the premiere of a movie based on one of their cases in the seventh season episode “Hollywood A.D.” Mulder also wears one in the early first season episode, "Fire."

In preparing for the prom, Angel (David Boreanaz) wears a tux in “The Prom,” on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997 – 2003).

Clark Kent (Tom Welling) also wears a tux to the prom, but must deal with a tornado, in an early Smallville (2001-2011) episode.

The characters of The A-Team (1983-1987), and The Vampire Diaries (2009 - ) have also found ample reason, over the years, to wear tuxes.
