Pop Art: The Flying Nun (TV Guide Edition)

  1. I've got such strange memories associated with this show.
    First, what a bizarre concept!

    Second, it's nice to see Catholic nuns portrayed as something other than strict disciplinarians. In fact, I really like the notion that Sister Bertrille is some sort of angelic being, able to bring love to whomever she meets.

    Last, I always thought the flying sequences were incredibly well done. I just watched the opening credits and a montage of flying scenes on YouTube and am still impressed, especially in the shots where she's flying over the hills at great speed or over San Juan. Even the shots of her hanging in mid-air (from an offscreen rig most likely) are very effective. I still get chills whenever I see these shots!
