Well, this is the final batch of Joseph Maddrey's gorgeous horror movie location photographs. Tomorrow -- on Halloween -- I'll post the correct answers to any photographs that haven't been correctly guessed yet. Although, frankly, there aren't many remaining that haven't been guessed. You have all been totally amazing. Especially since I've been stingy with the clues.
Amongst today's bunch: at least one of these locations was used in a movie in the 1930s.

Okay I haven't been very good at these so I haven't posted yet but I think, maybe, #3 is the creepy gas station from the beginning of Chainsaw III.
ReplyDeletePhoto 3:
ReplyDeleteMovie: The Devil's Rejects
Location: Club Ed, another "rental" set out in the California desert.
I was excited when I saw this photo. After having done all the work finding out about the Four Aces location and House of 1000 Corpses, I knew exactly where it was.
I already was aware that Rob Zombie shot the House of 1000 Corpses at Four Aces and that he subsequently shot the sequel, The Devil's Rejects, at Club Ed.
Hope my guess is correct and it's not just too much of a coincidence. LOL

p.s. John, are you and Kathryn dressing Joel up for Halloween? If you do, I hope you post a picture of the little mad masked two-year-old on your site:-)
Not sure about #2 but #1 is from House on Haunted Hill and #3 is from The Devil's Rejects.
ReplyDeleteHey there!
ReplyDeleteGood guess, Kim but not quite on the money. (But don't worry...you're awesome!)
And Faninawe - you hit it! That's from The Devil's Rejects.
Two photos here left to go...
Great guessing, everybody!
best,
JKM

I don't know if you realize this but the file names have the film name in it, so when I clicked on picture 1 it says The House on Haunted Hill in the URL !?!
ReplyDelete#2 looks like the original Hills Have Eyes? Maybe?
ReplyDeleteThis is fun. Thanks John.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION and John and Joe's clues have been instrumental in solving these photo riddles:-)
ReplyDeleteIt is obvious that the photo can be of only one place in California.
My guess for # 2:
Location: Red Rock Canyon State Park in the Mojave Desert
Using John's clue, that one of the movies in this bunch was from the 1930's:
Movie: THE MUMMY 1932
The Mummy, starring Boris Karloff (one of my most favorite actors of all time) was the most famous horror movie ever filmed in the Park! The spectacular scenery served as the Valley of the Kings.
Makes me a little sad that I have spent my entire life on the East Coast and have never visited any of these great sites!
John, you rock! And, your game, Name The Horror Movie, rocks! Oh, and Joe, you rock, too!!!!
Have a great, ghoulish Halloween!
