Reader Top Ten Greatest Horror Films Circa 1960 - 2000: Amanda Davis

Reader, writer and horror enthusiast Amanda Davis provides the next list of greatest horror films released between 1960 and 2000.

She writes:

"10. The Exorcist (1973)

09. The Shining (1980)

08. Poltergeist (1982)

07. Tales from the Crypt (1972)

06. Hellraiser (1987)

05. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

04. Pet Sematary (1989)

03. The Exorcist III (1990)

02. Ginger Snaps (2000)

01. Halloween (1978)."

Amanda: I love your list, and we share a number one selection -- Halloween (1978) -- in common.  But your list also reminded me of other titles that I love, and that I wish I had put on my list, particularly Hooper's Poltergeist (1982), and Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).  Both of those movies really capture the 1980s horror milieu perfectly.

Also, I'm glad to see your love for The Exorcist III (1990), a film that is criminally-underrated, and which features one of the most effective jump scares in horror history.

Well-done!
