I always thought the Buck Rogers Searcher was based on the Discovery. Even when we first saw the Searcher in season one Buck Rogers as a "cruise ship". That model was just reused after being repainted.

Man, I drew a LOT of spaceships when I was a kid that had a suspicious similarity to the Searcher... it was really easy to start off with a big circle for the forward end!
ReplyDeleteProbably why I also loved drawing the Soyuz/Salyut come to think of it, plus green made a nice break from Apollo white when in was in the mood for drawing something real.
