Happy 47th Birthday Star Trek...

Forty-seven years ago on September 8th, the great Trek began.  May the Great Bird of the Galaxy continue to bless us with the adventures of the U.S.S. Enterprise for years (and decades?) to come.  Happy Birthday, Star Trek!

  1. As a young boy in the fall of 1973, I had a double experience of the still brilliant Kirk era STAR TREK. Afterschool, after doing my homework, I would watch Star Trek the Original Series(1966-1969)that was in reruns Mondays through Fridays. On Saturday mornings, I would watched the new Star Trek the Animated Series(1973-74) too.

  2. How did I miss this anniversary? Thank you, sir!

I went back to my own blog and grabbed this posting that I uploaded this morning...

I must have known subconsciously about the date. And I must do my own later this evening.

Like "SGB" I would watch Star Trek in reruns. For me it was September of 1970 when I went into warp drive: CFTO ran the "seventy-nine jewels" Mondays to Fridays at 5pm, and did so for a few years straight. I too watched the animated show on Saturday mornings in 1973 and 1974: My addiction was so bad that I watched a new episode on CTV, then when it finished, I flipped to NBC and watched it again... the same episode!

As Canadian Trekkers know, and some American fans do, too, Star Trek premiered on the CTV network, here in Canada, on September 6th, 1966. So, I guess this Canadian did miss the anniversary, after all.
