30 Years Ago: Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994)
The tenth birthday of cinematic boogeyman Freddy Krueger should have been a big deal to start with, that's for sure. Why? Well, in the ...
-
Last year at around this time (or a month earlier, perhaps), I posted galleries of cinematic and TV spaceships from the 1970s, 1980s, 1...

The robots of the 1950s cinema were generally imposing, huge, terrifying, and of humanoid build. If you encountered these metal men,...
11)X-Files 'Bad Blood". One of my favorites! Gillian Anderson's favorite too (unless she was joking at the convention I went to. . .who knows with her. She can be loopy).
ReplyDeleteHere's the one's I know:
ReplyDelete1. Jonathan Frid, House of Dark Shadows
4, 4 tv vampires...hahahaha...The Count from Sesame Street
5. Lorne Green, Inspector Hans Stavlin in The Hardy Boys Meet Dracula
6.Geraint Wyn Davies, Forever Knight (rarely missed an episode of this one)
7. Mark Frankel, Kindred: The Embraced
9.James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
10. Patrick Renna, Life Blood
11. David Boreanaz, Angel
12. Alex O'Loughlin, Moonlight
13. Rob Lowe, Salem's Lot 2004
14. Stephen Moyer, True Blood
Dreaded Dreams
Petunia Scareum
Of the ones outstanding...
ReplyDelete8) is Julie Benz as Darla from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
9) is James Marsters and Juliet Landau from Buffy
13) is Ian Somerhalder in The Vampire Diaries (which I confess I've never seen).
Man, when I was a kid, I used to rush home from school every day to get my Barnabas fix. Dark Shadows came on at 3pm, so if I hurried I could catch most of it. It was the only place a monster kid could see a vampire on a daily basis back then. Barnabas had the best fangs...
ReplyDeleteWow, everybody is doing great here!
ReplyDeleteWill: you nailed that identification, it's from the clasic episode of "The X-Files," Bad Blood. I also love that episode with a passion. I wrote a lot about Rashomon on the blog last week, and Bad Blood is like a comical version of Rashomon.
Trick-or-Treat Pete: You never cease to impress me, my fellow horror lover! As usual, you ran the table.
The only ones you didn't get right were from "Bad Blood" (the one that Will got) and the one you said was of Rob Lowe. That's Ian Somerhalder from "Vampire Diaries!"
But still, you single-handledly took almost every photo off the board!
Strange Powers: You rock. You picked up all three of the photos you attempted to identify. Yep, yep, and yep! Awesome!
Theron: I really, really want to go back and re-watch Dark Shadows, but I'm daunted by the sheer size of that undertaking. But I too love Jonathan Frid as Barnabas. Great performance. Great character.
Thanks everyone!
best,
John
#2 Victor Buono from Night Gallery. Too bad he passed at such a young age (43 I believe). He always scared me as King Tut on Batman when I was a boy.
ReplyDelete#3 I think is Barry Atwater as Janos from "The Night Stalker" Kolchak TV movie. Darren McGavin rocked as Kolchak!
John...
ReplyDeleteRecognizing the final image. I just broke open True Blood and have watched the first two episodes tonight. It's different. : )
Anonymous, nice job tagging Victor Buono in Night Gallery, a man who died too soon, but nonetheless left a significant body of work. And also Barry Atwater as Janos Skorzeny in the original "Night Stalker" TV movie!
ReplyDeleteSci-Fi Fanatic: I have to admit it -- to my shame -- I have not yet begun to watch True Blood. I know about it; I recognize the characters; but I haven't committted to it yet. It is in my Netflix Queue, and I hope to catch up with all the seasons in short order. (Just finished Alias and Dexter; and now going through Farscape!)
best,
JKM
