I literally hate everything about Burton's so-called vision for films. A visionary is often attached to Burton's resume...Uwe Boll has a vsiion for his films as well, therefore a visionary too.
Yet Boll is considered one of the world's worst directors and somehow Burton's child-like, repetitive, and very, very tired style of direction garners him praise and apparently the right to cast Johnny Depp every 2 out of 3 films for life!!!
Mars Attacks is the worst film ever made with the greatest collective cast assembled in recent memory.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02023410324827216534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-4972924789361624462015-11-19T11:19:49.488-05:002015-11-19T11:19:49.488-05:00I had mixed feelings about this one as well. I wanted to see a sharp satire of 50s alien films along the lines of John Paizs' Top of the Food Chain (aka Invasion). Instead, I got a mish-mash of ideas that never came together as a cohesive whole. I was also getting really sick of Jack Nicholson chewing up scenery at this point in his career. Of course, any movie with Tom Jones in it can't be all bad.Neal Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17053148427058126745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-18514279248497264872015-11-18T18:52:53.919-05:002015-11-18T18:52:53.919-05:00I actually really like this film too, despite it&#...I actually really like this film too, despite it's flaws. The visuals have a lot to do with it. I also like the fact that despite it being a absurd farce the mechanism of the Martian's defeat actually makes no less sense than that of Independence Day.nowherehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12125582590094636085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-1282742011375166872015-11-18T13:12:02.574-05:002015-11-18T13:12:02.574-05:00I only like 5 Tim Burton movies. Too bad it failed at the box office, as had it been a hit, he might have ditched Depp and the one color palate for shinier more inventive projects. Sadly, it was caught in a no win situation. First, it failed to please those who were expecting a straight up adaptation of the cards (which would have been NC 17 due to the gore), and those who, much to my surprise, never heard of the cards or the controversy they caused. I'm not talking about the younger generation, I'm talking about mine and much older who gave me blank stares when I mentioned the subject. Well I for one love this film and take it anyday over Roland Emmerich's overblown Will Smith fest.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03097420555737415471noreply@blogger.com
