All of them are impeccably designed and well-cast (yes I liked Alec Baldwin as The Shadow) but for most of their runtime you just kind of sit there kind of enjoying them without ever getting that fist-pump energy that Raiders delivers in spades. And yes, I would include Captain America in this critique; the first half is terrific but when it should crackle in the last act it just kind of exists. It's still one of my favorite recent superhero films but doesn't reach the heights it should have.

DLRDLRnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-246620285448522902015-07-09T20:37:54.234-04:002015-07-09T20:37:54.234-04:00A very good look at an under appreciated film. In the 90s we were really getting into the angst and the snark, so this film just felt out of place... or like a breath of fresh air, take your pick.

I always liked it. James Horner's score is one of my favorites and works wonderfully in the film. Dalton is having a blast, and works great as the villain. And Connelly is just luminous in this film. I can't look directly at her or I just melt. :)

It has been a while since I've seen it, but I remember it feeling a little clunky in places. I'll need to revisit it.Roman J.
