I've since seen it several times since to re-live/laugh at/get over that childhood fright, and it ain't that bad--LOTS of good screaming by the men in the movie. Effective screaming by male actors is one of my metrics for whether a bad movie is watchable, since many actors cannot pull this off well.

I thought Richard Jaeckel gave his usual committed performance--he usually was very good at these what-am-I-doing-in-this-movie roles. It's Robert Horton who's impersonating a block of granite (these weren't his best years, certainly--nobody would work with him by this point, I think). People seem to equate low budget/cheap FX with camp, but that is not the definition of camp, and Green Slime is NOT campy.

Now, I once saw a double feature of Santa Clause Conquers the Martians with Moon Zero Two. THAT was camp! And worth my 50 cents.Sherinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-25407989690747950782016-05-19T15:22:07.303-04:002016-05-19T15:22:07.303-04:00green slime?green slime?Carlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-8364808409155126062016-05-19T12:44:00.888-04:002016-05-19T12:44:00.888-04:00The haters can kiss my ...The haters can kiss my ...Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03097420555737415471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-85981456184469909612016-05-19T12:16:55.040-04:002016-05-19T12:16:55.040-04:00I unironically love this comic book of a movie. Interesting that you didn't note that THE GREEN SLIME is a pseudo-continuation of Antonio Margheriti's mid-60s "Gamma 1" quadrilogy (beginning with WILD, WILD PLANET). Same producers and screenwriters, different continent.

Also worth noting is that director Kinji Fukasaku also made 1978's STAR WARS-inspired MESSAGE FROM SPACE.Christopher Millshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15978811373546110421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-58763985702305305122016-05-19T10:56:06.914-04:002016-05-19T10:56:06.914-04:00John good review of this enjoyable film. I first saw this film, as a boy, on my local UHF station's Saturday afternoon "Creature Double Feature" in the '70s.

SGBSGBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07137406272001346149noreply@blogger.com
