Back in Print: Space:1999 The Forsaken

My first Space: 1999 novel, The Forsaken (2003), is now back in print, and currently available at Amazon.com for the first time in the better part of a decade.

If I'm reading the tea leaves right, The Whispering Sea (my second 1999 novel, which I wrote in 2011) will also be available (at Lulu.com) in a matter of days...

Below is the book's alternate cover, which was available in 2003.

The Forsaken Returns!

Powys Media has just re-published my 2003 Space: 1999 novel, The Forsaken, which has been out of print for the better part-of-the-decade, and fetching ridiculous prices on second-hand markets.  The book features a great foreword written by Prentis Hancock (Paul Morrow) and is a novel that bridges Year One and Year Two of the Gerry and Sylvia Anderson spectacular.

If you visit the publisher's web page, there is now a working order link to get yourself a copy.

Also, a new novel, Children of the Gods, based on a story by Johnny Byrne and written by William Latham, has been published.

My Year Two opus, The Whispering Sea is also nearing publication, and should hopefully be released in March.

This book bridges "The Metamorph" and "The Exiles," and recounts Maya's (Catherine Schell's) first steps on Moonbase Alpha.  The story also develops the ideas I laid out in my post on the blog, The Horror Mythology of Space:1999.

Please support my work in print, especially if you love Space:1999, and visit Powys Media today.

Space:1999 author Bill Latham on Destinies: The Voice of Science Fiction

It's been my great pleasure and honor during the last decade to work on the Powys Media officially licensed Space: 1999 novel series.

One of the perks of that job -- besides writing in a universe I absolutely love -- has been familiarizing myself with the works of author Bill Latham, the talented author behind titles such as Space: 1999 Resurrection, and the epic two-part Omega and Alpha, as well as the original Frankenstein novel, Mary's Monster.

Bill has also been one of the most important guiding forces behind-the-scenes of the novel line, serving as editor on the anthology Shepherd Moon, for instance.  I've met Bill twice in person and I count him as a great friend as well as a terrific writer.

So it was a real thrill to catch up with him, at least a little, by listening to him discuss his written work and Space: 1999 on Dr. Howard Margolin's great sci-fi talk show, Destinies: The Voice of Science Fiction.

If you're interested in Space: 1999, the novel line, and even the inside-baseball of writing original books for a sci-fi franchise, I highly recommend this audio interview.  You can listen to Bill and Howard's discussion here, including an excerpt from Bill's Space: 1999 work.

Check it out!

Now Available: Space:1999 Shepherd Moon

I mentioned the upcoming Powys Media releases a couple weeks ago, but now there's more news. The officially licensed Space:1999 anthology, Shepherd Moon is now available for order. Whoo-hoo! (I ordered my copy this morning!).

I'm pleased to announce I have two short stories included in this collection: "The Touch of Venus" (which opens the book...) and "Futility."

There's also "Fallen Star" by Albert Leon, Ken Scott, Lindsey Scott-Ipsen and Raja Thiagarajan.

Then there's "Cargo" by Brian Ball, "Dead End" by E.C. Tubb, "Mission Critical" by Michael Faries, "Spider's Web" by William Latham, "The Astelian Gift" by Emma Burrows and "Remembering Julia" by Stephen Jansen.

In all, the collection is over 270 pages. I can't wait to get my copy and jump in. If you're ready to order, click here.

The Future is Fantastic

Some good news here for long-time admirers of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's mid-1970s space epic, Space:1999!

Powys Media
is releasing a number of new, original Space:1999 novels, anthologies and even an audio-book throughout 2010.

Back in 2003, I authored the original novel, Space:1999: The Forsaken (now sold-out and out of print, alas...), but more recently, I also penned a short story called "The Touch of Venus" for the upcoming Shepherd Moon.

The short story anthology also features works by authors E.C. Tubb, Brian Ball, William Latham, Michael A. Faries, Stephen Jansen, and Emma Thomas.

Check out Powys Media's web site to see the other series titles being released this year, including the Maya story Born for Adversity by David A. McIntee -- with a foreword by actress Catherine Schell -- and the Resurrection audio book narrated by the late, great Barry Morse.
