I saw it when it first aired, but couldn't remember any specific episode, or what happened in any of them. I then decades later came across it on the NBC app (again, now removed) and was able to watch and enjoy the following episodes (before it was taken off): "Closed Circuit" series/season premiere/pilot, "Stay Tuned, We'll Be Right Back", "The Bogeyman Will Get You", "Uncle George" my favorite of the ones I was able to see again. "Needlepoint" the worst of them. "Siege of 31 August". I loved Ronny Cox in RoboCop and The Car. "A Quiet Funeral", "Make-Up", "The Partnership", "Daisies" and "Catnip". Of these "Uncle George" is rated the highest and I agree. Of these ""Daisies" is rated lowest, but I disagree (it's the silliest, yes). Again, "Needlepoint" was/is the worst of these. The five remaining stories I was unable to watch since they are not available anymore. I'm glad to have seen what I saw, but have forgotten them (the episodes, but not the series in general) before NBC took it off their site.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-76077928166936318522009-07-24T21:54:28.290-04:002009-07-24T21:54:28.290-04:00Where can the Darkroom DVD be found? I just sat down and re-watched it. I agree with pretty much everything you said, although I think I was more at peace with the lack of clarity in Neil's character development. I think war brought out the worst in Neil and that's why he turned on his wife and had almost a split-personality.

What struck me was that as I was watching it, I started thinking about parents who force their kids into acting, or football or anything that kind of robs their child of his personality, or at the worst, his childhood. Like, the parents are attempting to live out the glory they never got or at least re-create it in their child. I felt that's what Neil was doing.

It's a really sad episode mostly because I did see Neil as this kind of gray character... there was no black or white to him, much like the situation his character dealt with in Viet Nam.

And Gail Strickland was marvelous. I really liked her performance.

I hope you post more reviews of Darkroom episodes. Or maybe you have and I haven't found them yet! There's still so much to read!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-80476011508973105982008-08-22T16:27:00.000-04:002008-08-22T16:27:00.000-04:00Hey Amanda,Thanks for writing about your experienc...Hey Amanda,

Thanks for writing about your experience with Darkroom. Not that many people remember it. I'd like to see a DVD release.

What did you think of Siege?

best,
JKMJohn Kenneth Muirhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15629979615332893780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-32229061174324823572008-08-20T15:53:00.000-04:002008-08-20T15:53:00.000-04:00This episode and the episode "The Bogeyman Will Ge...This episode and the episode "The Bogeyman Will Get You" are the two Darkroom stories I remember most. Storywise, Seige is probably better, but I kind of love the twist in Boogeyman.

I recently got the series and watched one episode called Catnip that for whatever reason, really bugged me out.

Cool show. Glad you are writing about it! I am going to go back and watch Siege with your thoughts here in mind...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
