Apparently Serling was so unhappy with ABC's decision to cut it down to ~37 min. (less commercials) he had his name taken off the credits as writer and used a pseudonym, "John Phillips" for the print that was actually broadcast.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-35228506765892717492011-10-06T12:15:38.078-04:002011-10-06T12:15:38.078-04:00I never knew about this interesting twist on "...I never knew about this interesting twist on "LORD OF THE FLIES".

SGBAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-66494148677106953932011-10-05T18:45:48.171-04:002011-10-05T18:45:48.171-04:00Quick research tells me The New People episodes we...Quick research tells me The New People episodes were 45 min long (including commercials), and they followed a 45 min presentation of The Music Scene.

Both ran Mondays from 7:30pm-9pm against the competition of Gunsmoke, Here's Lucy and Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. How much did ABC believe this experiment would work against those juggernauts, even a little bit??

I'm thinking TNP made it to the schedule more because of Spelling (a hot producer at the time) than Serling (even if he had the recent success of working on the script for Planet of the Apes).

Sounds like it's an interesting show to hunt down and see. I'm off to YouTube!R.A.M.'67https://www.blogger.com/profile/12817535165296807817noreply@blogger.com
