I think the year 2000 DVD is probably the best version out there. Some of the sound is still not in synch, or otherwise compromised, but that goes back to the original production and I don't think anything can be done about it.

The year 2000 restoration was taken from the original negative (miraculously discovered!), and it looks better than many previous releases.

I also love Jeanne Moreau. She does a good job of being "dissolute" in The Trial...

Great comment!

JKMJohn Kenneth Muirhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15629979615332893780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12380553.post-62951438631012054562011-03-14T14:28:04.305-04:002011-03-14T14:28:04.305-04:00Thanks for this cool bit of insight, The Trial rea...Thanks for this cool bit of insight, The Trial really needs a masterful restoration so we can appreciate the style over substance - it's kind of grungy. Is there a good print anywhere?? I love Jeanne Moreau in it, though, she's also stuck in another style over substance film that's got crap substance thanks to a bad Koch Lorber DVD, Antonioni's LA NOTTE.Erich Kuerstenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02850572368098319317noreply@blogger.com
